FEES & REBATES

At Freedman Psychology, we believe in providing an affordable service for clients with competitive fees.  The current Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended fee is $300 per hour. You are able to access our services without a referral, in these circumstances the full fee will apply. Freedman Psychology fees are reviewed annually and an update on fees will be listed on the website once available.

Clinical Psychologists

  • $300 per 50 minute session

  • $350 per 50 minute out of hours session (before 9am, and 5pm onwards)

  • $360 for an eating disorder initial assessment (1.5 hours)

  • $141.85 Medicare rebate

Medicare Rebates

With a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) referral from your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician you will be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

If you are seeking treatment for an eating disorder, a GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist may be able to assess your eligibility for an Eating Disorder Management Plan (EDMP). This referral allows you to receive Medicare rebates for up to 40 psychology sessions over a 12 month period (with valid GP and Psychiatrist reviews). The EDMP also allows for 20 dietetic sessions.

For all Medicare services, you are required to pay the full fee at the time of the appointment and are then refunded a partial rebate through Medicare. Your out-of-pocket expense is the difference between the Psychologist fee and Medicare rebate.

More information about Medicare rebates can be found here (https://www.health.gov.au/sites/default/files/documents/2020/09/better-access-fact-sheet-patients.pdf )

Please bring a copy of your MHTP or EDMP paperwork to your appointment, or email or fax it in advance to: admin@freedmanpsychology.com.au

Private Health

Some private health insurers cover some of the cost of psychological services. Your insurer can provide you with personalised advice based on your level of cover. Private health insurance cannot be used in conjunction with Medicare services.
